Webcomics Tweet of the Week

by Rebecca Cohen on June 3, 2012

Webcomic creators are funny people — both funny peculiar and funny ha-ha. I thought it would be amusing to feature some outstanding tweets from the weird and creative world of webcomickers.

This week’s (inaugural edition) tweet comes from @ObscureGent, co-creator of the Obscure Gentlemen.

When people say In N Out is overrated I want to go back in time and punch their great grandmothers in the vagina.

— Obscure James (@ObscureGent) May 31, 2012

I’ve never encountered anyone who said that In-N-Out is overrated, but if I ever did I would KILL THEM. I also don’t quite understand the desire to punish that hypothetical person’s great grandmother, but then again on some level it must be her fault.

Thanks for amusing me with your tweet, James! Now everyone go and follow James on Twitter.

Gyno-Star Makes a Cameo

by Rebecca Cohen on May 19, 2012 and modified on May 19, 2012.

Your favorite feminist superhero makes a guest appearance in the latest episode of “Frankenstein Superstar,” a very funny webcomic by the talented John Hazard. Click here to see the full-size verion of Gyno-Star’s kick-ass cameo (along with some of my favorite other female webcomic characters). Isn’t John’s rendition of Gyno-Star awesome?

Good stuff! Thanks for the shout-out, Frankenstein Superstar!

Gyno-Star Marches Against the “War on Women”

by Rebecca Cohen on May 18, 2012 and modified on May 17, 2012.

Poster by Rebecca Bowlin

Gyno-Star reader and feminist activist Rebecca Bowlin made this TOTALLY AWESOME poster for the United Against the War on Women rally in Santa Fe, NM on April 28, 2012.

Click here to see some photos of the poster in action.

And here’s the story from the local news station… Yes, they edited out the word “Gyno!” So where they quote Rebecca as saying, “This is (the) star,” what she actually said was, “This is Gyno-Star” (of course!).

Thanks to all the people who showed up for UAWOW rallies all over the country, and special thanks to Rebecca Bowlin for letting Gyno-Star join the protest.
